Abstract
[eng] In general French people agree with Governmental grants or subsidies to agriculture. Furthermore many of them think special help has to be bestowed upon the poorest farmers. Farmers are not liable for the difficulties they come across. They undergo numerous risks and are not responsible for the slumps or high prices. Agriculture has also to be supported because it is one of the main French economic forces and may even become a stronger one. Income transfers are useful provided they are well assigned. In the long run, they are profitable to the whole national community in so far as they are necessary not only to the economic balance but to the quality of life of all citizens. Even if it is not the full picture of French public opinion, it is anyhow, the image given by a hundred of polls collected since 1945.
