Abstract

[eng] This study is based on the concept of (small) area ("pays") to which people feel they identify in the course of a development process. This identification leads people to use the word we and to specify the group of social classes involved in the development process. As development gains impetus identification with a village tends to give way to identification with a development model. [fre] L'étude cherche à montrer comment les populations s'identifient à leur pays au cours d'un processus de développement, ce qui les porte à dire « nous », ce qui leur fait identifier leur collectivité de rattachement. Le « pays » est un espace-support servant à l'émergence de catégories sociales qui lui associent un projet de développement. Plus la volonté de développement s'affirme, plus l' espace-support s'élargit, plus l'identification dépasse le village pour se fixer sur le modèle de développement mis en œuvre.
