Abstract

[fre] La crise financière japonaise de la décennie 1990 est riche d'enseignements pour la crise actuelle. Après avoir mis en évidence les similitudes et les différences entre ces deux crises, l'article montre que l'expérience japonaise a permis d'établir un scénario clair des mécanismes de transmission de la crise bancaire à l'économie réelle, via le rationnement du crédit et la déflation par la dette. Par ailleurs, le précédent japonais enrichir la réflexion sur la nature et le tempo des politiques économiques à mettre en oeuvre, qu'elles soient budgétaires, monétaires ou adressées plus spécifiquement au secteur bancaire. . Classification JEL : G20, G21 [eng] What Are the Lessons of the Japanese Financial Crisis for the Current Crisis ? . The Japanese financial crisis of the 1990's is instructive for the current crisis. After highlighting the similarities and differences between these two crises, the article shows that the Japanese experience has provided a clear scenario of the mechanisms of transmission of the banking crisis to the real economy, through credit crunch and debt deflation. Furthermore, the Japanese case enhances the analysis of economic policies to be implemented in such case, whether fiscal, monetary, or more specifically addressed to . the banking sector. .
