Abstract

[fre] Le 50e anniversaire du Traité de Rome est l’occasion de retracer le chemin parcouru par les promoteurs de la construction européenne et de rendre hommage aux pères fondateurs. De la réforme des institutions communautaires à la création du système monétaire européen, l’auteur revient sur ce qui a été au coeur de son action politique et de son engagement européen. En témoigne aussi sa présidence de la Convention européenne dont l’ambition fut celle de parachever la construction européenne et d’en définir un cadre institutionnel pérenne. . The 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome is an opportunity to retrace the steps taken by the promoters of European integration and pay tribute to the founding fathers. From the reform of Community institutions to the creation of a European monetary system, the author revisits the highlights of his political career and European commitment. Bearing witness to this commitment was his term as Chairman of the European Convention, which had the ambition of completing European integration and defining a long-term institutional framework for a united Europe. .
