Abstract

[eng] Banking reorganization in Europe : mutual banks . Banking co-operation is a significant European feature. 48% of the total assets managed by mutual banks in the world are European. Co-operative system has obviously succeeded in the banking sector. It seems that Europe has implemented an original answer for accounting, financing and management of firms and non financial agents. The co-operative answer : a successful answer. This article describes this part of the banking European sector and concludes on its future. . JEL classification : G21 [fre] La coopération dans le secteur bancaire est une spécificité européenne marquante ; dans le total des actifs gérés par des établissements coopératifs dans le monde, l’Europe représente 48 %. La banque est le secteur économique où le système coopératif a réussi de la manière la plus évidente. Tout se passe comme si l’Europe avait élaboré une solution originale de tenue des comptes, de financement et de gestion pour les particuliers, les professionnels, les entreprises - la solution coopérative, une solution qui marche. Cet article s’attache ainsi à décrire cette partie du secteur bancaire européen et à en tirer quelques conclusions pour son avenir. . Classification JEL : G21
