Abstract

[fre] La finance est une matière dont les préceptes éthiques ont été examinés sous tous les aspects depuis des milliers d’années. Dans cet article, Amartya Sen s’attache à décrire quelques aspects des analyses traditionnelles de l’éthique et de l’économie financière, allant de Kautilya et d’Aristote au IVe siècle avant J.-C. à Adam Smith au XVIIIe siècle. Il apparaît que les principes et préoccupations qui ressortent de ces analyses restent vraiment pertinents face aux problèmes actuels de l’organisation financière et qu’ils nous aident à analyser les difficultés contemporaines. Amartya Sen illustre son propos par des questions d’éthique financière et commerciale, connexes et qui traitent des devoirs des agents financiers, gestionnaires ou autres administrateurs d’institutions financières et de sociétés commerciales.
