Abstract

[fre] L'objectif de cet article est d'expliquer la dynamique industrielle de la pharmacie mondiale caractérisée par un changement technologique récurrent, la multiplication récente d'opérations de croissance externe et la persistance d'une pratique coopérative intense entre les firmes. L'articulation dans le temps des choix innovateurs et organisationnels des grandes firmes pharmaceutiques y est analysée sous l'angle de l'évolution et de la coordination de compétences et de savoirs nouveaux liés au développement des biotechnologies. [eng] The aim of this paper is to provide an analytical explanation of the dynamics of world pharmaceutical industry confronted to biotechnology. The articulation through time between co-operative agreements, mergers and innovation decisions of large pharmaceutical firms is analysed using a competence-based perspective.
