Abstract
[eng] Abstract We observed in this study 1385 certificates of wedding concluded in Paris in the years 1660, 1665 and 1670. The objectives were to characterize witnesses of weddings (7601 men and 1611 women) and their family, friends and relationship networks. The main findings were : first, the network of husbands and wives was highly dependant on their social class and profession; second, intermediates socioeconomical classes were good examples of social mobility; third, it reflected women position in the society. A first approch of witnesses social networks of three representative groups (handworkers, wine merchants and Parliament lawyers) indicated caricatural social behaviours : it will be necessary to extend the study to larger population samples and periods before drawing definite conclusions.
