Abstract

[eng] Abstract The Parisian gas company is a very good example of the big enterprise during the second half of nineteenth century. Many employees were engaged in a parallel direction with the growth of production and gas consumption. The firm was managed on the hierarchical system, so clerks had a leading pari in the working. Nevertheless, their tasks were simple : transcripts of daily activities, open the mail and correspond with consumers, reckon in one's head all the data. In return, employees of Parisian gas company profit by social advantages. But, at the end of century, they expected a real personal status.
