[fre] Résumé Les Delahaye-Lebouis représentent, à la fin du XVIIIe siècle, le type de famille qui a réussi dans un temps rapide à construire une belle fortune par la traite négrière. Si une heureuse alliance avec les Begouen — les plus importants marchands du Havre avant la Révolution — explique en partie cette réussite, un réinvestissement régulier des profits réalisés dans les affaires et des dividendes croissants expliquent aussi la capacité de la famille à se risquer dans des opérations de plus en plus audacieuses. Malgré la guerre d'Amérique, les Delahaye-Lebouis peuvent acheter une plantation à Saint-Domingue, et la Révolution seule met un coup d'arrêt à leur activité commerciale. Mais le domaine constitué en Normandie a pu être conservé... [eng] Abstract The Delahaye-Lebouis represented, at the end of the 18th century, the type of family who succeeded in a short time in building a nice fortune through the slave trade. If a good marriage with the Begouen the most important merchants of Le Havre before the Revolution explains in part this success, a regular reinvestissment of the profits of the trade and increasing dividends to finance the operations explain the capacity of the family to try more and more big speculations. Despite the War of Indépendance, the Delahaye-Lebouis were able to buy a plantation in Santo Domingo, and the Revolution only put a stop to their commercial activity. But the estate in Normandy was kept in the 19th century...
