Abstract

[eng] Medical Treatment and Child Care in the Suburbs of Paris - This article is a continuation of an earlier study which evaluated the under-equipment of suburbs In France as compared with other towns of the same size. The presents analysis, which is limited to the Paris suburbs, considers four types of facilities : on the one hand, in the medical field, the general practioners and specialists who are characteristic of the private sector, and, on the other hand, the day-care centers and the accredited child nurses which are more generally linked to the town's social policies. The social composition of a suburb thus seems to determine to a great extent the presence or lack of medical specialists, while the number of places available in day-care centers Is greater in the inner suburbs, as it is there that working mothers are most numerous.
