Abstract

[eng] Locating German Multinationals in Eastern European Countries by Farid Toubal . This paper sets out to study why German multinationals set up in Eastern European countries . An empirical analysis is made of the firms using a new database provided by the Bundesbank . The decision as to where to site German firms is not just dependent on the traditional determinants of FDI (foreign direct investment ). It also depends a great deal on factors inherent in the transition to a free market economy . Keywords : transition economy , FDI , panel
