Abstract

[fre] Le coton en France, comme dans la plupart des pays d'Europe, a ceci de particulier qu'il est à la fois le textile le plus important sous beaucoup de rapports et qu'il dépend entièrement de l'importation. . A vrai dire, seule l'importation de matière brute est indispensable. L'industrie nationale est assez fortement outillée pour assurer la transformation du coton brut en produit fini. . Le présent travail traite du coton brut envisagé au point de vue de l'économie française. Il passe ensuite en revue les branches de la filature et du tissage. Il se borne à ouvrir des perspectives sur les stades de fabrication ultérieurs qui constituent des branches communes à plusieurs textiles, ce qui est le cas notamment de l'industrie du vêtement.
