Abstract

This article presents an analysis on the effects of applying a multiuser waste fee in residential buildings of higher socioeconomic levels in the city of Medellin. The methodology used combines qualitative and quantitative tools. In the quantitative section, there is a detailed result description and a model pattern of the effects found based on an economic perspective. The study highlights the achievements associated with a decreasing waste fee and the positive effects on waste reduction. Finally, the article discusses complementary programs such as social marketing, to promote a decrease in waste both in industrial as well as in residential areas.
