Abstract

Presents the full series of UK financial accounts, highlighting the methodology that ensures consistency between old and new dataThis article presents the full series of UK financial accounts since 1979 for all sectors and since 1957 for households. The definition of new standards for financial accounts, and specifically SNA93, had entailed an interruption in official time series. The article highlights the methodology used to ensure consistency in the connection between the old and the new series.A first historical analysis of the UK data and a set of international comparisons for two of the countries (the United States and Italy) for which long-term consistent statistics are available is also provided. Economic & Labour Market Review (2008) 2, 40–46; doi:10.1057/elmr.2008.57
