Abstract

Meghna Guhathakurta looks at the shrimp industry in southwestern Bangladesh as a case that illustrates how global capitalism is linking with the local economy. She examines the impact of the shrimp industry on gender relations taking into account the overall socioeconomic and structural transformation that is taking place within the region.
