Abstract

Paul Streeten looks at how UN agencies and other international and regional organizations could become more responsive to the demands and needs of the global civil society. He suggests that with the end of the Cold War there could now be a more creative adaptation to the new power constellations and the new technologies of the present world with productive, remunerative, secure, satisfying, freely chosen livelihoods for all people as a top priority for policy-makers. Development (1999) 42, 9–15. doi:10.1057/palgrave.development.1110053
