Economía informal e innovación. Una aproximación global al problema

Abstract

La economía informal afecta de múltiples formas a la innovación. Por un lado,la informalidad tiene un efecto positivo sobre la actividad innovadora al incrementarlos niveles de competencia y de difusión tecnológica. Sin embargo, porotro lado, la economía informal reduce los incentivos a la innovación al reducirla capacidad de apropiación de los beneficios monopólicos que motiva la innovación.Dentro de tres modelos económicos en el ámbito global, se consideraque la economía informal afecta negativamente al desarrollo innovador local yreduce la posibilidad de mejorar el crecimiento económico de un país. En estesentido, las recomendaciones de política estarían orientadas a reducir la informalidad,mejorar los sistemas de propiedad intelectual e implementar políticasde liberalización económica que beneficien la actividad innovadora local.
