APEC y Perú: estableciendo nuevos vínculos con Asia Pacífico

Abstract

Perú ingresó al Foro de Cooperación Económica del Asia Pacífico (APEC) en noviembre de 1998. APEC tiene como objetivos fundamentales lograr la liberalización y facilitación del comercio y la inversión en la región, en el año 2010 para las economías industrializadas y en el 2020 para las economías restantes. APEC es un foro gubernamental; sin embargo, le brinda mucha importancia a los sectores empresarial y académico. En este sentido, la participación de Perú en APEC tiene como objetivos fortalecer nuestra presencia económica y comercial en Asia Pacífico, así como aprovechar los diversos programas de cooperación que se pueden obtener. Asimismo, Perú debe convertirse en el socio estratégico de las economías de Asia Pacífico en América del Sur. Solo así seremos receptores de importantes flujos de inversiones productivas de dicha región hacia nuestro país y se logrará diversificar y aumentar la oferta exportable peruana en los mercados de APEC, así como los mercados regionales.
