Los problemas más preocupantes del Perú

Abstract

Los problemas señalados por esta muestra de 170 bien ubicados líderes de opinión de diversas profesiones (125 hombres y 45 mujeres), son de innegable importancia: 1) la pobreza (56%), 2) el desempleo y el subempleo (53%), 3) la falta de institucionalización (45%), 4) el sistema de educación (29%), 5) la violencia callejera (20%), y, 6) el centralismo (13%). Curiosamente, sin embargo, menos del 2% mencionaron otros problemas de igual o mayor importancia: la injusticia, la corrupción, el rápido crecimiento poblacional, la ingerencia foránea y el narcotráfico. No hubo mención alguna de la condición de la mujer o de la destrucción ecológica. Con relación a las perspectivas de desarrollo de Perú, 57% de la muestra considera que son muy prometedoras (9%) o prometedoras (48%); solamente 11% perciben estas perspectivas como dudosas (10%) o muy dudosas (1%). El optimismo imperante entre las élites puede estorbar el reconocimiento y, por lo tanto, las respuestas efectivas a los problemas más serios del país.
