La importancia de la democracia para los economistas

Abstract

La teoría económica ha dejado últimamente de mostrarse indiferente al tema de la democracia y su importancia para el funcionamiento de los mercados. Con ayuda del modelo de Findlay - Wilson se demuestra cómo la ausencia de un régimen democrático puede producir el estancamiento y la descomposición de una sociedad. La democracia representativa difícilmente puede ser reemplazada por una "democracia directa", como algunos políticos e intelectuales están planteando actualmente en el Perú.
