Comparación de los planes de estabilización de Argentina, Brasil y Perú

Abstract

El presente artículo se propone identificar las principales diferencias y semejanzas entre los Planes de Estabilización de Argentina, Brasil y Perú, así como también formular algunas reflexiones sobre política anti-inflacionaria. De igual modo el autor analiza el éxito inicial de dichos programas en términos de manejo de la inflación y su posterior retroceso. Concluye que el costo potencial mayor y más importante de un programa de estabilización puede medirse en términos de su impacto sobre la actividad económica y los niveles de empleo que produce. Los planes heterodoxos no han tenido esos costos para lograr la "estabilización relativa" sino que, por el contrario, han logrado expandir la producción. E, inversamente, la alternativa ortodoxa en los casos de inflación rebelde, al no actuar directamente sobre la inercia, resulta enormemente costosa.
