Abstract

La evaluación del potencial turístico permite delimitar el nivel de atractivo de un destino en función de la planificación turística, estableciendo las bases para el desarrollo turístico local. Hasta la fecha, se han realizado numerosas investigaciones dirigidas a la medición del potencial turístico desde un enfoque sintético. Sin embargo, aún existen inconvenientes que deben ser superados, tales como la no normalización de los datos y la modelización de factores determinantes estáticos, lo que presupone una desventaja a la hora de enfrentar nuevos esquemas de investigación inmersos en big data. En el presente estudio, se desarrolla un modelo sintético generalizado para la evaluación del potencial turístico, que permitirá estandarizar la cuantificación del nivel de atractivo de los destinos de manera flexible, normalizada y acotada en un intervalo interpretable, con utilidad para los agentes de los destinos turísticos. Se realizó una aplicación de la técnica propuesta en el centro histórico de Santiago de Cuba y se concluyó que este destino posee un potencial turístico alto.
