Intellectual Property Rights in International Regulations

Intellectual property law has received a final and official dedication along with the conclusion of the Convention that led to the establishment of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), signed on 14th July 1967, in Stockholm. Within the strategy of economic, social and cultural development, the intellectual property rights represent a fundamental component of ensuring the protection of human intelligence creations and guaranteeing their valorization on the free market. Internationally, Romania is a founding member of the World Intellectual Property Organization and of the World Trade Organization. In the current context of economic competition, there has emerged the need to have an intellectual capital at the level of all commercial companies. The largest share in the market value of a company's success is the value of intangible assets, consisting of intellectual property rights: trademarks, patents, utility models and designs. Today, more than ever, knowledge and intellectual property rights are evident by the increased investment in intangibles that lead progressively to the increase of the market value of all commercial companies.
