Principles into Local Planning and Management of Tourism to Achieving Success in Promoting Sustainable Urban DevelopmentAbstract:Tourism figures among the industries with major growth in Europe contributing with a 5 percent of GNP and generating 6 percent of all jobs in the European Union. Europe’s cities and towns contain a rich cultural heritage. Yet, maintaining this heritage presents many challenges, including dealing with the adverse environmental and social impacts of mass tourism. Demands from cities tourism alike are high and growing, hence the pressures and problems associated with the management of the sector have to be systematically tackled by all parties concerned. The concluding indicates the team’s intention of testing and enhancing this instrument in detailed successful partnership case studies in four European cities
