National technology entrepreneurship policy: foundation of a network economy

Abstract

The confluence of disruptive technology and network modes of organization in modern, developed economies requires a national business environment conducive to entrepreneurship. National entrepreneurship policy study results report that a formal national coordination mechanism would be ineffectual, if not deleterious, for an entrepreneurial economy. For the US to sustain its competitive advantage, however, it is necessary to develop a national technology entrepreneurship policy ‘supportive’ of the commercialization of new product technologies, that is, offering the legal environment, regulatory framework, modest financial assistance, and business incentives that are conducive to successful technology entrepreneurship, with markets providing the overall coordination.
