Government, academia and the private sector in Mexico: Towards a new configuration

Abstract

A new configuration of actors, relations and procedures in the system of production, reproduction and exchange of knowledge began in the early 90s in Mexico. It was a coming together of government, the private sector and higher-education institutes; it involved business, professional and academic associations; new networks were created. These characteristics are very similar to the ‘triple-helix’ model, which favours the generation of consensus on problems and how to solve them. During a period of very dynamic change, as is being experienced in Mexico, this model can help to identify the new problems and find ways to confront them jointly. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
