Luxembourg: regulating and deterring biotechnology

Abstract

Luxembourg has not yet implemented EC Directive 90/220 on biotechnology, for several reasons. First, there are no economic pressures to implement the Directive. Second, the government would have inadequate means to exercise effective control over GMO releases, if any were conducted there. Third, many MPs believe that the Directive favours economic aims over safety aims. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
