Architectural design of high-density urban vacant land plots on the basis of thermal environment analysis: the case of Macau BT8 and BT9 plots

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to use thermal environment analysis to investigate architectural design strategies for vacant land in high-density cities. Researchers used Rhino to construct a 3D model of the Macau BT8 and BT9 plots and imported the collected data, including terrain, meteorology, and surrounding buildings, into the model to accurately replicate the actual spatial environment. Moreover, we used Ladybug analysis to determine the sunshine distribution of the plot at a specific time. Finally, a design solution with a visual rendering effect was proposed by combining the upper-level planning constraints with the thermal environment simulation analysis results.
