Abstract

China has constructed and publicly announced a new grand strategy for Europe that focuses on foreign direct investment (FDI) specifically earmarked for Central and Eastern Europe. It has internal strengths and weaknesses plus external opportunities and threats. Foremost among the tasks that China and Europe must do together will be to prepare the Chinese and the European team members to work together, to understand each other¡¯s cultures, and to internalize the laws of the European Community and of member states that pertain to the management of China¡¯s investment. The bottom line here is that the image of China is at stake.
