Problems of Distributive Trade in Value Chain in Croatia

Abstract

The paper is based on the concept of trade and its new role in the functioning of the economy and in creating value. New business concepts are analyzed related to cooperation in distribution channels, or in the total supply chain. Specifically, paper analyzes the distribution of some specific food products. Assessment of the retail trade of food products with from the point of view of its role in supplying the consumer with all the necessary and desired goods and services, from point of view of its development in terms of creating large surface stores, the creation of large companies and their groups (the processes of concentration), etc. and the emergence of various problems in this respect. With the development process of concentration in retail trade appear problems appear, in particular in the supply of rural areas and villages with small population, the problems in preserving the quality of food products which are formed on the basis of longer transport tours and larger passage of time between production and consumption, and others. The paper indicated only principle able to solve the problem, based on experiences from the developed world.
