Abstract

This article is devoted to an analysis of the state of production of main vegetable crops in Bulgaria in 2022 and 2023. For this purpose, reliable data from harvest reports developed by the Statistical Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has been used. A graphical method and index factor analysis with the form of the relationship S = x*y have been applied. The average yield per hectare – intensive factor, and the size of the harvested areas – extensive factor, have been considered as factors influencing the size of the total amount of harvested vegetable crop. The opinions of other authors on the problems and prospects for the development of vegetable production are summarized. Opportunities for stimulating the sustainable development of this type of production are outlined.
