Trends in the Development of the E-government in the Countries of the European Union

Abstract

The paper examines the issues, related to the development of e-government mainly in the countries of the European Union. The article presents an analysis of the general e-government development index (EGDI) for sev­eral countries of European Union and several countries outside of European Union. The paper presents a detailed description of a methodol­ogy by the United Nations, which defines the definition of the basic index and its constitu­ent parts. The article examines a comparative analysis of the values of EGDI for the countries of European Union over the 2012-2016 period. The analysis shows the respective averages and forecasts for the next two years. The au­thor describes the outlined trends and the pos­sibilities for applying the results obtained. The paper places emphasis on the development of new e-services as an important element of the overall concept of e-government development in the European Union
