Clubes de convergência e drivers de catching-up dos municípios brasileiros 2000-2010 [Convergence clubs and catching up drivers in Brazilian municipalities 2000-2010]

Abstract

Esse trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de convergência municipal entre 2000 e 2010 à luz de 2 modelos de inspiração neoclássica: β-convergência intraclube e β-catching-up interclubes. Ambos são estimados a partir de uma função de crescimento neoclássica com resíduo endogeneizado por variáveis relativas a drivers tecnológicos. O β-convergência intraclube determina os clubes de convergência municipal. Já o β-catching-up estima mudanças na probabilidade de convergência dos clubes Atrasado e Intermediário com respeito ao Clube Avançado. Os resultados mais relevantes são: (i) formação de clubes de convergência municipais; (ii) constatação de um processo de divergência entre clubes; (iii) as principais variáveis que explicam a probabilidade de catching-up dos municípios retardatários são as relativas aos drivers tecnológicos. Isso significa que, à medida que a capacitação tecnológica se concentra nos clubes mais avançados, as desigualdades econômicas derivadas dos gaps tecnológicos tendem a permanecer.
