Abstract

Developmentalism had relevant influence on the formation of political, social and economic structures of contemporary Brazil. Publicly incriminated from the mid-1980s, developmentalism is guiding the current economic debate once again. In order to contribute to a better understanding of the phenomenon, this paper aims present and systematize the main lines of the current debate about its origins in Brazil, focusing on the centrality of the 1930’s Revolution to the genesis of the ideology.
