Las causas de la inflación argentina: una estimación empleando la metodología VECM para el periodo 2003-2019

Abstract

Existen dos corrientes teóricas principales que intentan explicar el fenómeno inflacionario. Las escuelas pertenecientes a la corriente principal de pensamiento económico plantean que la inflación es generada por excesos de demanda, mientras que las escuelas disidentes plantean que la inflación es generada por factores de oferta. Este trabajo se propone contrastar empíricamente el poder explicativo de estas dos corrientes teóricas, usando como base el caso argentino en el periodo 2003-2019. Con este objetivo se estima un modelo de vectores de corrección del error (VECM, por sus siglas en inglés). Los resultados indican que la inflación es un fenómeno multicausal, donde la puja distributiva y el tipo de cambio tienen un rol preponderante en el largo plazo.
