Lendemains de bataille. L’historiographie française du culturel aujourd’hui

Abstract

French history has known a “cultural moment” which can briefly be dated from the end of the 80s to the middle of the decade 2000. Two different conceptions of “cultural history” were discernible. The first one, which is still very productive, refers to a social, economic and political history of cultural productions and of cultural fields. The second one came close to an anthropological conception in which “culture” was a way to examine all the social realities. These two different outlooks have produced and go on producing major works. But cultural history can’t be seen as a frontline or as a “frontier” anymore.
