Les évocations, entre régulation juridique et arbitrage politique

Abstract

Evocations belong to the legal procedures of appeal that come under old French law, allowing the litigants to challenge a judge for obtaining that another be assigned to them. While relationship between a judge and one of the litigants is the most frequent cause of such a procedure, the monarchy follows the same way to remove a case from a court. Beyond the legal procedure, it is a question of regulating justice allowing the king who retains direct sentences to pronounce delicate political arbitraments.
