La production et le commerce du textile à Alep sous l’Empire ottoman : une forte contribution à l’essor économique de la ville

Abstract

L’objet de cet article est d’étudier la dynamique socio-économique d’Alep à l’époque ottomane et de mettre en lumière les principaux facteurs qui l’ont soutenue. Notre analyse insiste sur le rôle de la proximité géographique, du système technico-économique, et, enfin, du système local de régulation dans l’essor exceptionnel qu’a connu cette ville à cette époque. De cette réflexion, il ressort que le concept du territoire, et les notions qui lui sont associées, constituent un cadre d’analyse approprié pour comprendre à la fois l’évolution historique de cet ancien centre urbain et son mode d’organisation et de fonctionnement encore en vigueur aujourd’hui.
