Chemically tailorable colloidal particles from infinite coordination polymers

Abstract

Designer nanoparticles Micro- and nanometre-sized particles are used in applications as diverse as catalysis, data storage and drug delivery. A simple new method can produce such particles from organometallic complexes held together by metal ions. This could lead to exciting new applications because of the ease with which the particles' properties can be tuned by varying the building blocks used.
