Abstract

El Mundial de Futbol Catar 2022 se erigió como uno de los más polémicos en la historia de este tipo de certámenes, en especial por las contradicciones que entrañó en tanto megaevento deportivo global. Este dossier se centra en el análisis de diversos elementos que ejemplifican perfectamente la relación entre geopolítica, capitalismo, migraciones y fútbol profesional en el actual mundo globalizado. El Mundial de Fútbol de Catar 2022 se inauguró el 20 de noviembre y permaneció activo hasta el 18 de diciembre de ese año. Desde que en el año 2010 Catar se eligió como sede, así como por sus preparativos, la generación de infraestructura y el marco social de este país islámico, despertaron diversas opiniones, críticas y acusaciones políticas y futbolísticas, en relación a los derechos humanos de los trabajadores migrantes que construyeron los estadios y a la tradición de este deporte en aquel país. Este panorama nos permitirá realizar un análisis en torno a la relación de diversos elementos que influyeron en este megaevento: el fenómeno migratorio, las relaciones capital-deporte profesional, crítica del valor y desarrollos desiguales, entre otros elementos. Sin duda, existe una relación Capitalismo-Geopolítica-Migraciones-Fútbol, que en el caso de Catar se pone de manifiesto por los miles de migrantes que fueron movilizados hacia ese país como trabajadores temporales para la construcción de estadios y demás infraestructura para la justa deportiva.
