Új állam születik? Baszkföld autonómia törekvései

Abstract

A 21. században reneszánszukat élik a regionális nemzeti mozgalmak, amelyben jelentős szerepe van az elmúlt évtized a válságainak is. Európa több, önálló állam nélküli népe akar elszakadni az többségi nemzet államától. 2014-ben két hónapon belül két népszavazás is történt. Skócia történelmi lehetőséget kapott a függetlenségre, de a skótok nemet mondtak rá, bár a brit kormány ügydöntőnek ismerte el a referendumot, tehát valós esély volt az elszakadásra. Ezzel szemben a katalán népszavazást, melyen a válaszadók 80%-a a függetlenség mellett állt ki, a spanyol alkotmánybíróság alkotmányellenesnek tartotta, és egyelőre a katalán kormány célja is csak véleménynyilvánítás volt.
