Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment is considered as one of the most common types of capital flows especially in the case of developing countries. FDI has a significant impact on the economic growth of host country and stability of its macroeconomic indicators. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the FDI inflows in Uzbekistan, one of the developing countries of Central Asia, which is stated to receive a limited amount of FDI compared to other CIS countries. The paper describes the general environment in Uzbekistan after achieving its independence. Moreover, current reforms under the new government of Uzbekistan is taken into consideration in discussion part which is aimed to stimulate foreign direct investment. Since there is a limited number of studies undertaken to study FDI in Uzbekistan, the current paper derived most of its content from the research by Theodore Metaxas and Polyxeni Kechagia (2016) which shed light into the attraction of FDI in Uzbekistan. Additionally, this paper provides up-to-date information on new reforms being undertaken in Uzbekistan to attract Foreign Direct Investments.
