Soldiering Through History to Find Out the Good That Economics Can Do

Abstract

This Columbia-trained economist began to be disturbed by the moral hole she saw at the center of her profession. How did she cope with it? By exploring the history of the American Economic Association to find that in the past sociologists, social workers, and political reformers could work together constructively.
