Abstract

Using a sequence analysis, the study examines the connection between employment histories and income development for nursing professions. Social and technical occupations are used as comparative occupations. The data basis is the sample of integrated labour market biographies (SIAB). The central findings of the study are that nursing professions are characterised by high entry-level incomes and a high degree of income stability in contrast to the comparable professions, and that incomes develop heterogeneously according to occupational cluster.
