Abstract

This paper focuses on certain aspects of the interaction between external influences and domestic economic management in Indonesia. In some respects the current international economic environment appears to be a particularly challenging one for Indonesia. One implication is that it seems likely that in the future, Indonesia should consider working harder at economic diplomacy than in the past Indonesia needs to strengthen the capacity of domestic institutions – of both government and non-government agencies – to represent Indonesia views about current economic and trade issues in international circles.
