Abstract

The objective of this study is to know the size of land holding allocated to hectar transmigrants in the development of one million swampy area in the Center of Kalimantan. Linear programming approach is applied to analyse the optimal size of land holding allocation with Sawit Dupa as the cropping pattern for paddy activities. The result of the study indicate that the optimal size of land holdings is 1.75 ha for paddy activities and 0.25 ha is allocated for homegarden activities including land for housing, so that the total land allocation for each transmigran is 2.0 ha. The household income from paddy activities is Rp 3.039.434. per year. If the other sources of income such as from perineal crops (Rambutan) and from non-agricultural activities are calculated, the income per capita per year is predicted Rp. 1.439.667 per year.
