Abstract

Krisis semen merupakan masalah besar yang perlu diatasi dalam tahun 1994. Krisis ini terutama terjadi akibat lonjakan permintaan domestik terjadi dalam semester I 1994 dan terus berlanjut hingga dewasa ini. Lonjakan permintaan ini terjadi di luar dugaan mengingat dalam awal tahun 1994, banyak pihak yang pesimis terhadap perekonomian Indonesia untuk tahun 1994. Kuatnya permintaan domestik terutama sebagai akibat peningkatan investasi dalam industri manufaktur, konstruksi, dan pariwisata dan juga peningkatan konsumsi masyarakat telah mengkompensasi penurunan permintaan eksternal (ekspor) yang melemah dalam tahun 1994 ini.
