Abstract

Neo-classical theory has to date dominated the estimated of fam household demand parameters. This approach is theoretically unsound as the tiypical rural household is a coombination of consumer and producer and does not purely act as either. This Paper contrasts food demon I parameters obtained from the farm household and Neo-classical models. The first approach are both more logical and realistic. A sample of 241 households living in six villages along the Cimanuk river banks (West Java) was used to test several hypotheses derived from rural household model.
