Prospect of Shrimp Fisheries Industry in Indonesia

Abstract

Peningkatan ekspor udang teiah menjadikannya primadona komoditas non migas Indonesia sejak 1986. Dengan volume ekspor 36.038 ton yang berniiai US $284,45 juta, komoditas ini berada pada urutan kedua (di bawah kopi) dalam peroiehan devisa Indonesia. Hasil udang ini diperoleh dari penangkapan (73,81%) sedang sisanya (26,19%) dihasiikan melalui usaha pertambakan. Sementara sumber utama penangkapan udang (di perairan Arafura) teiah berkurang (akibat ekspioitasi besarbesaran), maka untuk meningkat hasil ekspornya di masa dating hanya dapat diharapkan dari pertambakan. Walaupun hal ini membutuhkan modal yang besar serta tingginya factor resiko dalam usaha itu. Untuk meningkatkan nilai ekspor serta pangsa pasar Udang, maka perlu diadakan diversifikasi pemasaran. Ekspor udang yang sebagian besar dilakukan ke Jepang (karena pengusahaan udang yang dilakukan di Indonesia sebagian besar melalui joint venture dengan Jepang), perlu disebar juga ke AS dan Eropa, walaupun kedua daerah pasaran tersebut menerapkan uji mutu yang ketat.
